Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is not only personally rewarding, but you can make a profound impact on a child and his/her family. Our events are powered by volunteers, at various levels of commitment including: event coordinators, shore volunteers, boat captains, and many more ways you can get involved. Watch the video below to experience the fun C.A.S.T. for Kids impact an event has on everyone involved!

Volunteer at an Event

Boat Captain and Boat Co-Captain for Boating Events

At C.A.S.T. for Kids Boating Events, experienced anglers with a boat are needed to host a child and parent/guardian for a 2-3 hours of fishing. Co-Captains are needed to assist on large boats. Volunteer Boaters and Boat Co-Captains work one-on-one with kids and parents sharing angling techniques!

“My favorite moment was watching my participant catch fish. Smile was priceless! It showed me how much I take for granted. And that it’s the small things in life that we can do to make someone else’s life better for a short period of time.”
– Volunteer Boater, Patoka Lake, IN

Shore Volunteer

Shore Volunteers are needed for many aspects of the event such as with set-up and organization, registration and sign-in process, photo process, preparing for and serving lunch, celebrating the children, clean up and more. Individuals and/or groups are welcome to volunteer.

Check Out Major League Fishing’s Andrew Nordbye’s experience volunteering with C.A.S.T. for Kids

“I love C.A.S.T. because it is an opportunity for me to show love to kids through my passion of fishing who might not get a chance to receive this any other way. When you volunteer at an event, you are filled with gratitude and are able to fill another family with gratitude through fishing. You truly get to make an impact in other people’s lives in just a few hours of fishing. As a professional fisherman in the Major League Fishing Tackle Warehouse Invitationals circuit, fishing is business for me many times, but you cannot let that take the fun out of fishing. It is always fun for me. It is always about helping others, even in the toughest of tournaments. I enjoy fishing for every type of fish, and love getting the opportunity for others to experience the joy of fishing!”
