Chuck and his son, Joshua have been attending the C.A.S.T. for Kids event at Sarg Hubbard Pond in Yakima, Washington since it began 12 years ago.

This year, due to lack of funding, this event almost got cancelled. But Chuck couldn’t stand by and let that happen. He stepped in and approached local businesses and donors to support his local CAST for Kids event so it was still possible in 2018.

“My heart lights up when I am helping these kids and my own son learn how to fish, help them fish, and watch the excitement and gleam in their eyes as they catch fish. The joy they experience and the proud moments their parent(s) or guardian(s) see in their children and young adults make me proud of what C.A.S.T. for Kids stands up for and all the volunteers that dedicate so much time helping these events come together. Without their support, we wouldn’t have a C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation.”

For Joshua, attending the C.A.S.T. for Kids event in his community has become a family tradition. The wall in his room is covered with memories and proud moments captured at C.A.S.T. for Kids events.

“For me a chance to get outside with friends and to have fun (is what I love about the event). To see people I don’t see very often. And spend time with Dad prior to Father’s Day and be proud I am a third generation fisherman. I love going fishing with Dad especially on a boat.”

As Chuck likes to say,

“It may be just a day but it’s a day they’ll never forget.”

We’d like to thank Chuck for keeping the annual CAST for Kids event in Yakima, WA going through his hard work and dedication. The CAST for Kids Foundation can’t host local events without the support individuals like you and sponsorship of local businesses investing time and money to make these special memories for kids and families happen!
