C.A.S.T. FOR KIDS - McCabe Park – Saturday, April 12th, 2025
Participant’s Event Details
Thank you for registering your child fishing participant to attend C.A.S.T. for Kids! We are so excited you will be fishing with us. Keep in mind each Child Fishing Participant must have a parent or guardian accompany them for the entire event, including restroom visits. No exceptions. Separation for any length of time is not permitted.
If your plans have changed and you are no longer able to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Space is limited. No-shows and last-minute cancellations have a great effect on pre-event planning and event day. There may be children on the waiting list who would love to attend if you can’t make it. To provide the best possible experience for each child with special needs, we limit the total number of participants. With enough notice of a cancellation, we can plan accordingly and invite other families to participate.

Important Information:
Bring anything that your family will need to be comfortable while outdoors for a few hours in the current weather.
-
- Be prepared to fish rain or shine.
- Consider: Rain Poncho, windbreaker, jacket or extra layers for windy conditions around bodies of water. Gloves for early mornings and cooler weather, hand wipes, bug spray, etc.
- Dress appropriately. Children need sturdy shoes for outdoor use around water.
- Sunscreen, smiles, and sunglasses.
- Any assistance devices to help navigate possible muddy or rough terrain for wheels, motorized wheelchairs, and walkers.
- Children may need ear protection from sound or wind. Boat ramp and dock areas can be loud.
Child fishing participants will receive a t-shirt and hat to wear, a rigged fishing rod reel combo, a tackle box and an award plaque to remember the day with!
Lunch is provided. We cannot accommodate food allergies or sensitivities.
Every outdoor event venue is different. We strive to make your family’s attendance as comfortable as possible. If you have any questions concerning bathroom availability or the on foot, wheel or walker travel required – including categories of distance, slope, and surface – please contact the Volunteer Event Coordinator for on-site location specifics.
After the event you will be emailed a survey to take. Survey results help us make events better and in turn help enable us to reach more children. Your individual stories, feedback and experiences are invaluable to us. We would love to hear back from you.
For Boating Events or Shore Events with access to fishing from a dock:
- Children must wear a properly fitted, U.S. Coast Guard approved life jacket at all times when on a dock or boat. No exceptions. PFD’s must be U.S. Coast Guard approved, the proper size for intended wearer and in good serviceable condition. The PFD label will indicate USCG approval number & weight of the person for which the lifejacket is designed.
- Only one parent/guardian is guaranteed to accompany each child participant on a boat. Any additional family members in attendance may have to stay on shore. It depends on the seating capacity of the boat, and how many people the boat captain is comfortable with onboard. Riders must remain seated while the boat is in motion.
- If you have a life jacket for your child, please bring it.
