C.A.S.T. Fish Tip #5: Clean the Weeds off Your Hook

Hey folks! I’m Jay Yelas here at the C.A.S.T. for Kids event. Today, I’m fishing with Courtney.

Here’s your tip for today: you always want to clean the weeds off of your hook. Right where we are fishing today catching some blue gills there’s a lot of aquatic vegetation and weeds.

Fish are not vegetarians. They don’t like to have weeds on the hook. So, anytime you reel it in, you want to clean off your night crawler. Get all those weeds off of there. Throw them back. Get everything nice and clean.

We’re having fun! Come out to a C.A.S.T. for Kids event near you sometime.

Enjoy a beautiful day of fishing with these youngsters like Courtney. It sure is fun teaching them how to fish and celebrating them in the outdoors.
