I recently had the pleasure of attending the C.A.S.T. for Kids event at Navajo Lake, New Mexico. This event is one of the longest running C.A.S.T. events in the nation, this was their 27th year! A huge thanks to the event coordinator Kellie and her volunteers for holding an outstanding event.
At this year’s event, I got to meet a couple families that drove 3 hours from Albuquerque to participate. That’s some dedication, and both families were rewarded with a great experience.
Justin Harden had attended a C.A.S.T. event in the past and he was excited to go boating and fishing again. The fishing was slow for Justin, but he enjoyed a great boat ride with his mother Dolores, and it was so fun to enjoy the day with them!
The Maldonado family from Albuquerque decided they would rather fish from the marina dock than go on a boat. It was a good call, as the kids Emma and Juanito caught multiple fish off the dock and had a blast. They said it was the best fishing they ever had, and well worth the 3-hour drive. They said they would definitely be back next year!
A special shout out to the parents of these kids who considered the benefits of attending C.A.S.T. for Kids to be worth a 3 hour drive one-way to attend. Thank you for coming and we look forward to another day of fishing and celebrating your kids again next year!
