Remembering our Founder, Jim Owens

This special event will be held in memory of C.A.S.T. For Kids Foundation Founder, Jim Owens. After the Foundation was formed in 1991, the first C.A.S.T. for Kids event was held in 1992 at Banks Lake, WA.

On September 15th, 2024 we bring it back to Banks Lake where it all started to honor and celebrate Jim’s life. His vision and hard work leaves a legacy that touches communities and families nationwide today and for generations to come.

“My 7-year-old daughter caught her first fish! It gave her confidence. We loved this event and can’t thank you enough for such a wonderful opportunity! We can’t wait to go fishing with her new rod. Thank you!” – Parent of Participant

“My favorite moments were seeing the excitement of the kids as they caught fish and then afterward when they talked about their experience. I felt like I was a small part of making a difference in these kids’ lives by helping them have a first-time fishing experience.” – Shore Volunteer

This is a C.A.S.T. for Kids event designed to provide children with disabilities, ages 6-18, the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing. Take to the water with C.A.S.T. for an unforgettable morning of fishing! This will be a combo fishing event with some boat fishing and some fishing from the bank.

Event Itinerary

Our C.A.S.T. for Kids events include lots of fun and celebration! You can expect 2-3 hours of fishing, a delicious lunch and an awards celebration where your child will receive a personalized plaque. The event will start at 12:00 pm and will end at 4:00 pm. Please note a parent or guardian must be present with your child for the entirety of the event. If you are volunteering for this event you should expect about 5-6 hours of time at event, arriving before participants and staying after to help wrap things up. This is a day of fishing the children, families and volunteers will never forget!
