2017 Event Recap

The 16th annual Black Canyon Reservoir C.A.S.T. for kids event was held on a glorious Saturday morning in August. 36 children and their families came out to enjoy a day of fishing, boat rides provided by the 21 boaters, bounce houses as well as a delicious lunch. Smallmouth bass were the predominant fish caught by the children as smiles were everywhere thanks to the 39 dedicated volunteers who came out to bless the children. Thanks to the Bureau of Reclamation and it’s staff for allowing the children to enjoy this special day. See you all in 2018 for more fun!

2016 Event Recap

When this coordinator arrived at Black Canyon Park, it was so very dark that I needed a headlamp to walk around and not scare myself! Within 30 minutes upon arrival, the warm sun started to peek over the hills and its beautiful reflection bounced off the reservoir. The morning began with excitement. All the supplies were taken out and placed in their location. My first boat captain arrived promptly at 6 a.m. because he wanted to be the first boat out with his participant. Volunteers began to arrive and were ready to work! Early morning smiles brightened the day more than the warm summer sun. Everything was in order and families began to arrive.  Thirty-four participants enjoyed this special day made especially for them; and boy was it special! Fourteen boat captains came out to share their boat and love for the water with the participants, 45 volunteers made sure everything was perfect, and LOTS of fish were caught! C.A.S.T. for Kids has been at Black Canyon Park for over 20 years, and each year it just gets better and better. I look forward to next year.
