2016 Event Recap:
A beautiful fall day greeted all of the participants and their families as the City of Jasper, Alabama hosted their second C.A.S.T. for Kids event on nearby Smith Lake. Some very special children were treated to a few hours of fishing and boating out on the lake along with family, friends and the expertise of local fishermen. Several children were able to catch their first fish and enjoy their first ride in a boat thanks to all of the volunteer boaters. Riding and driving fast in the boats seemed to be the most enjoyable activity for most of the children. The children and their families were then treated to a BBQ lunch provided by Sons Smokehouse. After lunch each child was presented their own plaque and photo with their boat captain attached. A great time was had by all. Thanks to the city of Jasper, Alabama for hosting such a fine event! Thank you for your hard working and dedication to the program. We couldn’t do it without all of our amazing event partners.
2015 Event Recap:
2015 was the first year for this C.A.S.T. for Kids event held on beautiful Smith Lake in Walker County Alabama. The nearby city of Jasper, AL hosted the event and was able to put lots of smiles on children’s faces.
A beautiful, deep, clear reservoir in the hills of Alabama, Smith Lake was the perfect location for the boating and fishing that these children were able to enjoy. Many spotted bass, which the lake is famous for were caught as well as some large striped bass, brim and catfish thanks to a very knowledgeable group of volunteer fishermen. The community and their volunteers went out of their way to make this event a special one. Son’s Smokehouse provided a delicious bbq lunch for all as everyone took photos and swapped fishing story’s. Many smiles were shared by the children, parents and volunteers during the awards ceremony, especially when all of the kids shared tall tales about their day on the water with their boat captains.
For a first time event, this one was special, next year’s should be even better!
