“He had the best time, loved catching fish and playing with kids who are like him.” – Parent of Participant, Umpqua River
“Our captain had a robot that moved the boat so he had my son be the navigator. He would tell the boat where to go and my son thought it was voice activated 🙂 it was very special and I loved it because it kept him engaged and feeling like he was doing something important!
He also now has an interest in fishing that he’s never shown before!”- Parent of Participant, Umpqua River

C.A.S.T. For Kids Covid-19 Event Policy and Procedures
The CAST for Kids Foundation will be holding all 2020 events in compliance with CDC, National, State and local guidelines for Covid-19. We will be following these guidelines for the safety, health and well-being of our participants, families, volunteers and staff. If we can hold an event according to state guidelines, as states phase in their re-opening, we will. However, our events may look different than they have in the past. Lunch and awards may be broken into separate groups to enhance social distancing. At a minimum, we will be implementing 6’ social distancing guidelines and the use of protective measures like masks and hand sanitizers. We are confident we have figured out how to provide a safe, relaxing, fun environment for everyone to enjoy at CAST for Kids events in 2020! However, it will be impossible to guarantee the safety of all CAST participants and volunteers. Please consider each of your individual risks associated with the Covid-19 pandemic when making your decision to attend any CAST event.

2018 Event Recap
The 2nd annual Umpqua River CAST for Kids event was an incredible success, as 21 participants got to enjoy a float down the legendary Umpqua in drift boats. This is a unique event, floating for 2 miles down the river. The fishing was superb, and all kids caught several smallmouth bass. One child caught 38 bass! The weather was excellent, and 14 boaters participated including the foundations Easter Regional Director Jeff Barnes who volunteered as a boat captain while he was on vacation in Oregon with his family.
2017 Event Recap
For our first event it went pretty smooth. I heard we may have broken the record for the most fish ever caught at a C.A.S.T. event! The weather was ideal ! Every kid caught plenty of Smallmouth Bass. At the awards ceremony I was really moved about how the kids responded to receiving their plaque . One memorable kid ran up so fast to receive his he couldn’t stop himself and did a Pete Rose slide in the grass to slow down as the crowd erupted in laughter. This was a very good day … Thanks!
