“We loved it so much! It was a huge blessing to receive the equipment and the boat captains were so patient and motivated to teach the kids a new skill. My son loved fishing and felt real special receiving the plaque, he hung it up on his wall as soon as we got home! More events like this are needed!”
“Awesome program that helped my daughter realize what she could do, helped us as parents see what she could do, helped the volunteers see what she could do, helped those watching see what she could do. Profound success.”

The first annual Yaquina Bay CAST for Kids event was a huge success thanks to all the volunteers who made the day special for the kids. The U DA MAN Fishing Tournament crew set up the event, cooked a great lunch for everyone, and helped in many other ways. 25 boat captains were on hand to take the 40 participants and their families out on Yaquina Bay for a fun morning of fishing and crabbing. About 300 crab were caught, cleaned, and cooked for the kids onsite for them to take home and enjoy. There were a few herring and sea bass caught as well. Thanks to the Laney family who did most of the cleaning and cooking of the crab! The weather was perfect for the event, with a sunny day and calm winds. The kids all did a great job at the awards telling about their adventures on Yaquina Bay.
