“We loved it so much! It was a huge blessing to receive the equipment and the boat captains were so patient and motivated to teach the kids a new skill. My son loved fishing and felt real special receiving the plaque, he hung it up on his wall as soon as we got home! More events like this are needed!”
“Awesome program that helped my daughter realize what she could do, helped us as parents see what she could do, helped the volunteers see what she could do, helped those watching see what she could do. Profound success.”
This is a C.A.S.T. for Kids event, presented by Hook a Heart Foundation, designed to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing. Not all locations are conducive to hosting boating events. This event gives participants the opportunity to fish from shore.

2018 Event Recap
We were blessed to have a beautiful, sunny day for our event. Our families began registering at 12 pm and the tournament officially began at 12:30. Each participant received a fishing pole, tacklebox, bait, t-shirt and lots more fishing swag. The participants and their families fished along the shore until 3:30. While fishing, families enjoyed cotton candy, popcorn, and drinks. They listened to their music requests from the DJ and were entertained with the stiltwalkers and monkey. Each family listened for their doorprize number to be called for prizes ranging from a free pizza to $50 grocery gift cards. At 3:30, all of the volunteers and participants ate hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza. At 4 pm we announced the winners for the most fish caught and the biggest weight caught. Each participant also received their own plaque with picture.
