“We volunteered as a family and made some new friends! It was a great time!” – Shore Volunteer, Medina River
This is a C.A.S.T. for Kids event designed to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing. Not all locations are conducive to hosting boating events. This event gives participants the opportunity to fish from shore.
Event was Rescheduled due to major flooding in the area. The new date is September 17th (originally scheduled for June 11th). See the new Medina River Flyer.

2016 Event Recap
The first annual Bandera Electric Cooperative C.A.S.T. event was held Saturday September 17th, in Bandera city Park on the banks of the Medina River. Clear sky’s blessed the 13 of 22 registered children who attended. Bandera Electric Cooperative (BEC) staff were there early to greet the children and families as they arrived. Most all children caught fish with a couple catching in excess of 10 each. Species ranged from catfish, bluegill, largemouth bass, and even a couple of turtles. At the lunch and awards ceremony, the children entertained us with stories from the morning’s fishing adventure. All the children were awarded plaques and were gifted rods, reels, tackle boxes, caps and shirts as a remembrance of the days fun.
